ABOUT OUR AGRI-MODEL OF URBAN GROWING & COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Our task? Establish Agri-growing zones in local neighborhood and surrounding areas. To create a local urban market emphasizing locally grown produce, locally produced art, local foodies, arts and crafts. Creating a mini makers-market will locate those residents with special talents, allowing opportunity to showcase their work and sell at the local market.

GENESIS PROJECT 214

The Genesis Projects’ goal is simple: create a local non-gmo seed bank, purchase land for organic farming and botanical gardens, helping to establish urban gardens, educating and assisting those in need along the way. There are communities in America designated as a 'food desert'. A food desert is defined as a large geographic area with no or distant grocery stores.

The Genesis Project 214 - Repurpose vacant lots for food production to bring fresh, nutritious food to communities where access to fresh, natural food is limited.
- Local and Regional network of farmers and urban Agri-growers.

- Establish a consumer-owned Food Co-op.

- Introduce local youth to Agriculture and    other ancillary components of Agriculture.

- Establish a local market offering locally and regionally grown produce, meats, dairy, and value added textiles, soaps, herbs, spices, jewelry, art, and fine arts to the local community.

- Work with local government to provide locally grown produce to schools.

VERTICAL FARMING

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack visited Detroit recently and said that growing food inside cities could become an important part of regional food systems in a world beset by drought and other issues. Detroit, he added, is known far and wide as one of the centers of that movement.

The Greening of America’s Urban Areas – ‘If every neighborhood had its own vertical farm, how many fewer semis would be choking up the metro area?’

  • aer·o·pon·ics ˌe(ə)rōˈpänik  noun - A plant-cultivation technique in which the roots hang suspended in the air while nutrient solution is delivered to them in the form of a fine mist.

COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE (CSA)

What exactly is community supported agriculture? For over 25 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. This model will be used to create a CSA targeting seniors, single family households, and households in general looking for year around locally grown produce.
